Dr. Shannon Devlin joined the Department of Medicine in the Division of Palliative Medicine as an instructor in October 2021. She was born and raised in Saint Louis but moved to Kansas City for college. She attended Rockhurst University, as part of the Saint Louis University School of Medicine Pre-Medical Scholars program, and graduated summa cum laude with a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry. Returning home, she went to Saint Louis University School of Medicine. She obtained her doctorate of medicine in 2015 and was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society. Dr. Devlin completed her internship and residency in internal medicine at the University of California San Diego (UCSD).

During these three years, her love of teaching, palliative care, and geriatrics grew. Chosen as one of the chief residents, she developed educational activities such as the UCSD Geriatrics Escape Room and a longitudinal palliative medicine curriculum for the internal medicine residents, which included a variety of patient simulations and real time feedback with faculty. She completed her geriatrics fellowship at UCSD in 2020 and her hospice and palliative fellowship at the University of Utah in 2021. After living by the ocean and in the mountains, she has found her way back home once again. Her clinical interests include medical education, patient advocacy, and the intersection of geriatric medicine and palliative medicine, especially relating to frailty, dementia, and multimorbidity.  In her free time, she enjoys exploring the Saint Louis food scene, spending time with her family, watching Bravo, and attempting to garden.
