Supporting Hospice Family Caregivers Managing Pain in Rural Communities

Principal Investigator: Dr. Karla Washington

With the generous support of the Hospice Foundation of the Ozarks and the Foundation for Barnes-Jewish Hospital, Washington University researchers are studying strategies to implement a program that offers education and support to hospice patients’ family members who are managing pain in rural communities.  To be eligible to take part in the study, a person must be an adult family caregiver of a patient receiving care from one of our research team’s rural clinical partners. All study participants will receive evidence-based information on pain management in end-of-life care and will receive follow-up supportive calls from trained members of the research team.
